How does it work?
"Justice for teens by teens." Basically, teens volunteer to be attorneys, jurors, and clerks on kid's cases. They learn about the law and gain public speaking skills while helping their community. Without volunteers, guilty teens would not have this option. Instead, they would go to Juvenile delinquent hall.
Are these real cases?
Yes, these are real cases, and the volunteers have to take an oath swearing not to reveal information about the cases. These are real courts and the participants have to act accordingly.
How many service hours do we get?
Every Monday, you earn 4 hours of community service. This is helpful for kids in scholarship programs.
What age do you have to be?
12 is the youngest you can be, but you have to be mature. 18 is the oldest.
Is there a dress code?
Yes.
Young Women: Business casual. Suits, blouses, slacks, skirts, and dresses. Dresses and skirts must be of appropriate length. Shoes: flats or heels.
Young Men: Business casual. Suits, slacks and button-down shirts.
Jeans, shorts, sweatshirts, flipflops, and slippers are not permitted.
