Job Summary
Uses the truth to present the defendant in a positive light.
Before court begins, defense attorneys interview the defendant to learn the circumstances surrounding the case. They also review police incident reports, witness statements, and intake summary sheets to prepare a well-organized case that is supported by evidence. They are responsible for preparing opening statements, organizing a line of questioning that will elicit positive responses from the defendant, objecting to opposing counsel's statements when necessary and developing a closing argument that will discourage the jury from giving a harsh sentence. Training will be provided.Uses the truth to present the defendant in a positive light.
